What to do
The landscape
Hiking, walking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and biking on paved surfaces. A self-guided landscape tour and free audio tours are on the Olana site.
The house
Guided tours run through The Olana Partnership. Reservations are strongly recommended. The parks page does not print the ticket price. Read olana.org before you go.
The view
The studio tower looks over the river and the Catskills. The page also links a live skycam from that tower.
A quieter time
The page does not say the lot fills, and it does not print a parking fee. House tours ask for a reservation. The hours block says the landscape opens at 8:00 am. The grounds note says 8:30 am. Check the page the day you go.
Parking
No vehicle fee is printed. The grounds are free. Check parks.ny.gov if that changes.
Dogs
The page says visitors walk dogs in the landscape. It does not print a leash length.
Swimming
The page does not list swimming.
Empire Pass
Olana is not on the Empire Pass facility list we read. The pass rules also say it does not waive historic-site admission.
