Cold Spring
The train still stops. Breakneck does not. Lunch is a minute from the platform, and the Saturday market is actually over in Garrison.

Take Metro-North to Cold Spring. Through November 8, the railroad has extra weekend round trips from Grand Central to Beacon that stop here. Do not get off for Breakneck. That trail and its station are closed.
02 · Lunch
Cold Spring Depot is at 1 Depot Square, about a minute from the platform. They do not take reservations. Friday and Saturday they close at 9; other days at 8.
03 · If it's Saturday
The farmers' market is not in the village. It is at Boscobel, 1601 Route 9D in Garrison, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through October.
04 · Afternoon
Walk to the Chapel Restoration at 45 Market Street, the 1833 chapel on the river. If a concert is listed, that is the room. On a Sunday morning, St. Mary's prints Mass at 10:00 am.

Breakneck is closed
New York State Parks says that beginning April 21, 2025, Breakneck Ridge, other area trails, and the Breakneck Ridge Metro-North station close for a two-year period while the Breakneck Connector and Bridge are built. Do not plan that hike this fall.

Metro-North, on October 16, 2026, said it added six weekend round trips between Grand Central and Beacon, stopping at Cold Spring, through November 8. Those trains do not reopen Breakneck station.
Metro-North, October 16, 2026Getting here
Metro-North’s Hudson Line is the calmer arrival for Beacon and Cold Spring. Hyde Park is a taxi from Poughkeepsie. New Paltz and Phoenicia want a car. Times on the day-trip pages are a guide, not a promise.
